Reverend Floria Washington


Floria Washington is the wife of Dr. Howard T. Washington, Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Columbus, OH. The daughter of Ms. Thelma M. Thomas and the late Rev. George A. Thomas, Sr. She is the mother of Malcolm and Kamilah Morgan, motherinlove to Minister Micah Morgan
and Elder Ian Morgan and grandmother of Josiah, Levi and Aria Grace Morgan.

She is a licensed minister of the gospel and serves as an associate minister, servant leader for the Women’s Ministry and Small Group Ministry and a teacher for the adult women’s Sunday school class at the Second Baptist Church of Columbus. She serves as the World Day of Prayer Coordinator for the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association, Women’s Auxiliary and the chairperson for the Edna L. Lewis Workshop for the Ohio Baptist General Convention, Women’s Auxiliary.

Minister Washington is the Manager, Learning/Development and Diversity and Inclusion with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.

She served in the Ohio Treasurer of State’s Office as Chief of Staff and Chief Operations Officer. Prior to joining the Treasurer’s office in 2009, she held various positions of progressive responsibility in private industry as a human resource professional.

Her education and development include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and politics from Converse University, Spartanburg, SC, a Master of Public Affairs, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and a Master of Divinity, Ashland Theological Seminary, magna cum laude. She
is a graduate of the Ohio American Baptist Leadership Academy and earned the certification in Expository Preaching from the E.K. Bailey Preaching Conference, Dallas, TX.

She is a member of the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio, the Society for Human Resources Management, the Association of Talent Development and serves on the Advisory Board for the Ohio Diversity Council. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and has served as chaplain for Alpha Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
